This Tuesday, Apple upgraded its newest MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops. But it looks like two of the notebooks have disappeared from the company’s site. The smallest of the MacBooks and the cheapest MacBook Air have been removed by the company.

The 12-inch MacBook and MacBook Air are no longer available on Apple’s website. It seems like the company has taken the decision of removing $1099 MacBook Air and 13-Inch MacBook Pro. These have now become the new entry-level notebooks.

This increases the entry cost of buying a Mac laptop by $100. This is considered to be a part of the company’s trend to hike prices throughout its product lines. They do the same with the iPhone and Ipad too. The removal of the two laptops also streamlines the Max line-up, giving simpler and more expensive options to the buyers.

The company says that $999 MacBook Air will still be available via its Education Institution store.

Apple generates the majority of its revenue from the sale of the iPhone. However, the Mac in its various guises has grown to be the company’s second hardware line which has surpassed flagging sales of the iPad.

MacBook Air was first launched in 2015 and was the default low-cost option available. This was the favorite choice of college students and young professionals. This thin laptop received annual updates until 2017 with its improvement to its Intel Processor, while Apple maintained the sub-$1000 price tag.

However, the device has received a few design changes over the years. But despite that, the laptop didn’t have a retina display as other PCs rocked high-definition and 4k screens.

The new MacBook Air like the MacBook Pro line hasn’t been without any controversies. The main problem was with the new keyboard with its shallower butterfly switches. These switches were more prone to damage and didn’t offer the same tactile experience as previous iterations.

Apple said:

“new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro units would come with a new third-generation keyboard that will supposedly address those issues.”

However, Google searches for either of the devices still show that they are available on the company’s site.
