We don’t know for sure what Microsoft is up to. They are either preparing themselves for a very odd promotional campaign or somebody has hijacked the Windows functioning time machine.

Yesterday, the company uploaded a video bosting an “all-new Windows 1.0” on its social platforms. They even to the extent of deleting all their previous posts from the Windows Instagram account, so that you can find the clip of all its logos over the years. The video scrolls from the simplicity of Windows 10 through the pixelated rainbow flag of Windows 95 and Windows XP. This has definitely stoked the interest of the audience.

The Windows maker has Tweeted:

“Introducing the all-new Windows 1.0, with MS-Dos Executive, Clock, and more.”

Whatever the company is up to, it has surely managed to get the attention of the audience. This stunt is giving the Windows’ social media managers a chance to load their replies to confused tweets with throwbacks. From the look of the matter, it feels like the company is planning for something big and unexpected. However, we can be wrong.

For the ones who do not know Windows 1.0 is the very first iteration of the Microsoft Windows lineage. This 16-bit platform was developed to run graphical programs on top of an installation of MS-DOS. This was one of the earliest efforts made by the company to change computing from line commands to a more visual experience. The project was managed and headed by Bill Gates and saw Windows 1.0 as an important direction for the company.

Today, the social page of Windows followed up the video with yet another throwback. The image shows familiar software such as Microsoft Flight Simulator and Microsoft Word in their box-packaged, 1985 glory. However, nothing has been declared by the company yet.

As of now, we are not sure what’s exactly is going on within the company. But we can hope that the mystery is going to soon unravel itself. The throwback campaign can either turn into something we weren’t expecting or it may be just a plain joke. No matter what it is audiences are eagerly waiting for further posts from the company. Till then all we can do is wait.
